Rapper Cardi B hits back at criticism for not letting daughter listen to controversial song WAP: ‘ I don’t make music for kids’

Rapper Cardi B has hit back at criticism for not letting her daughter listen to her controversial song ‘WAP’.

The 28-year-old was lip-syncing and dancing along to the risqué song in an Instagram Live session yesterday when her two-year-old daughter, Kulture, walked into the room. Cardi then promptly turned off the song as the toddler lingered in the background.

“Oh, no, no, no, no!” Cardi could be heard saying before taking a gulp of her wine.

The video has attracted comments from some critics who labelled the mother-of-one a hypocrite for not letting her daughter listen to the song.

“So ya daughter cant listen to it but everybody else’s daughter can ? @iamcardib AW OKAY ! Exactly what I been saying you have an agenda to push with that trash a– label your with. DISGUSTING,” one tweet.

It was one tweet too many, so Cardi — whose real name is Belcalis Almánzar — hit back.

“Ya needs to stop with this already ! I’m not jojosiwa ! I don’t make music for kids I make music for adults,” she tweeted. “Parents are responsible on what their children listen too or see. I’m a very sexual person but not around my child just like every other parent should be.”

In a follow-up tweet, the rapper wrote, “There’s moms who are strippers. Pop p—y, twerk all night for entertainment does that mean they do it around their kids ? No! Stop makin this a debate. Its pretty much common sense.”

Cardi released the raunchy hip-hop sing featuring Megan Thee Stallion back in August. Despite the criticism, ‘WAP’ debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 charts and racked up 93 million streams in its first week in the US alone — the most for any track ever in its first week of release.
