I can’t remember the last time I saw Rihanna with blonde hair.

Think about the last time you saw Rihanna without dark brown or black hair. I’m reminded of her red hair era, specifically the bright red curls she had in the “What’s My Name” music video from 2010. Since then, the multi-hyphenate has been sticking to her natural hair color (or shades that are close to it) for the most part — until this week, when she was spotted with a new hair color in New York City. Rih has entered her blonde era.
Dressed in all black, the “Work” singer was on her way to Carbone with boyfriend A$AP Rocky to celebrate his 34th birthday. Most of her honey blonde-highlighted hair was swept up into a voluminous updo. It appears that her hair was twisted and rolled in sections before being pinned in place, resulting in the intentionally messy hairstyle reminiscent of Pamela Anderson’s signature look from the ’90s.

Rihanna is no stranger to wigs or extensions, so there’s a good chance that this blonde hair color is simply a temporary change. But we won’t know until Rihanna steps out again.
Beyoncé was onto something when she said, “It should cost a billion to look this good,” but I would happily argue that Rihanna’s blonde hair is worth even more.
